Advance Network Sciences

The mission of the Advanced Network Sciences group is to develop the foundations for the theory of the complex communication systems which constitute the infrastructure of modern information society. The aim is to develop a deeper understanding of the structure and behavior of existing systems, as well as to provide design guidelines for next-generation networks. ANS recognizes the need for a new core discipline in engineering and applied science education and research. This has natural roots in rigorous mathematics, but it also requires interactions with the physical sciences, and the development of new experimental platforms. Hence, the research fostered is highly interdisciplinary, with a central core in communication theory and systems theory. The Advanced Network Sciences group promotes the interaction among students, faculty and researchers interested in different aspects of information networks, through the organization of meetings, seminars, and summer research programs.
